REC Announces Need For New Facility

At the 2017 Annual Meeting, REC Manager Mark Grotbo, announced to the membership the need to construct a new facility and warehouse. Since the beginning of REC in 1936, the technology, equipment, and personnel required to provide reliable power has changed dramatically. The time has come to make a change for the future of Ravalli Electric Co-op. As we continue to move forward with the building process, you can find updates here on our website.

UPDATE: Corvallis School District Building Reserve Levy Passes

The Corvallis School District Building Reserve Levy to purchase the REC property passed on November 7th, 2017.  The school district will most likely take ownership in June 2018 when funding is expected to occur. The negotiated option agreement will allow REC to lease back the property for the next 1-5 years that has been estimated to plan and build our new facility and relocate.

WORK IN PROGRESS:  As we continue to prepare for the future of REC, our Board of Directors and Management are busy researching and visiting several electrical utility co-ops to gain as much information as possible to aid in planning for the new facility.  They are evaluating architectural design and construction, energy efficiency measures, innovative technology efforts, and most importantly cost and affordability.

REC Is pleased to announce that it has chosen MMW Architects from Missoula for the creation and design of the future REC facilities.

MacArthur, Means & Wells came highly recommended by the local community and were selected by the REC Board after researching and interviewing several potential architects.  Their projects have won both state and national awards for design excellence and sustainability.

REC Is pleased to announce that it has chosen Quality Construction from Missoula as the contracting team of the future REC facilities.

After evaluating seven bids and interviewing three contractors, Quality Construction led the way and was chosen as REC’s General Contracting Team. The reputation and experience in this type of large project were top notch and we know they will be a great fit to work with throughout this momentous journey for Ravalli Electric. Preliminary site work has been done on the new property while plans are being finalized. REC hopes to have final construction cost estimates and building plans finalized by the first of the year 2018, and officially break ground in May 2018.
