Explanation of Terms and Charges
- Energy: Electricity consumed in kWh.
- Transmission: Transmitting electricity from the generation source to a local substation.
- Local Delivery: Distribution of electricity from the co-op substation to your meter.
- USBP: MT State mandated Universal System Benefit Programs including energy efficiency, renewables and low income efficiency programs.
- Local Maintenance: Maintenance of substations, poles, wires, transformers, meters, tree trimming. System upgrades and improvements.
- Local Services: Taxes, depreciation, meter reading, administrative and billing costs.
- Demand: Peak electricity needs measured in kilowatts (KW).
- kWh: Kilowatt-hour. One kWh equals the energy needed to light ten 100-watt bulbs for one hour or one 100-watt bulb for ten hours.
- Transformer Charge: Fixed charge for transformers on customer’s side of meter.
- Horsepower Charge: Capacity charge based on pump horsepower.
