Below are information summaries and links for Ravalli Electric Co-op's Rebate Programs

These incentive programs are a limited offer and is subject to change and availability of funds. 

Air Source Heat Pump Rebate

Ravalli Electric Co-op will pay you the following rebate if you purchase and install a qualifying model in an existing home or new construction.

Existing home:

  • PTCS Heat Pump Upgrade Ducts outside the conditioned space: $1,000
  • PTCS Heat Pump Upgrade Ducts inside the conditioned space: $500
  • PTCS Heat Pump Conversions from Forced Air Electric Furnace: $1,900
  • (Note: Insulated crawlspaces are considered conditioned space in Montana.)

New Construction:

  • ENERGY STAR Site Built PTCS Heat Pump: $1,500
  • Single-family New Construction PTCS Commissioning & Controls with Duct Sealing: $300 - $800/unit.

Here's how to qualify for the rebate:

  • Purchase an Air Source Heat Pump from our approved installer list. Note: Look for a Heating Season Performance Factor (HSPF) of 9.0 or higher and seasonal energy efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14.0 or higher. Be sure all specifications on the rebate form are met.
  • Heat pump upgrades include adding a heat pump to a system with gas back-up, replacing an existing heat pump, or if upgrading from zonal to ASHP.
  • When more than 50% of the heating system ducts run through unconditioned space, the ducts must be sealed and PTCS certified unless the ducts to to PTCS specifications or have been previously been PTCS certified.
  • Install the system in our service territory. 
  • Read the information on Air Source Heat Pumps, fill out the rebate form and mail to: Ravalli County Electric Cooperative, 1051 Eastside Hwy Corvallis, Montana 59828-0190. 
  • Attach a copy of the invoice listing the manufacturer (brand name), cost of the system, and a copy of the PTCS testing forms.
  • Have your installer sign this form verifying that it meets the specifications above.

Your rebate check, made out according to the rebate form, will be mailed within four - six weeks. Thank you for your participation in this important program.

Ground Source Heat Pump Rebate

Ravalli Electric Co-op will pay you a $3,000 rebate if you purchase and install a qualifying model to the specifications listed below. 

Here's how to qualify for the rebate:

  • Purchase a Ground Source Heat Pump from our approved installer list.
  • Install the system in our service territory. 
  • The measure is available for single family homes only.
  • The geothermal heat pump system application must be listed in EE Central as a reportable and cost effective measure.
  • All system components must be newly installed.  The replacement of an existing geothermal unit or the thermal exchange loop does not qualify.
  • Geothermal heat pump systems must be ENERGY STAR qualified and installed according to the IGSHPA specifications available at the time of installation by a PTCS and IGSPHA certified technician.
  • Read the information on Ground Source Heat Pumps, fill out the rebate form and mail to: Ravalli County Electric Cooperative, 1051 Eastside Hwy Corvallis, Montana 59828-0190
  • Attach a copy of the invoice listing the manufacturer (brand name), cost of the system, and a copy of the PTCS testing forms. 
  • Have your installer sign this form verifying that it meets the specifications above.

Your rebate check, made out according to the rebate form, will be mailed within four - six weeks. Thank you for your participation in this important program.

Ductless Heat Pump Rebate

Ravalli Electric Co-op is participating in a pilot program that promotes the installation of ductless heat pumps in existing electrically heated homes.  For information contact REC or go to: www.goingductless.com

ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebate

Ravalli Electric Co-op will pay you a rebate if you purchase and install the following ENERGY STAR rated model appliances.

  • Clothes Washer (MEF 1.80) - $20.00 (Purchased on or after April 1, 2011)
  • Refrigerator - $15.00 (Purchased on or after April 1, 2011)
  • Freezer - $15.00 (Purchased on or after April 1, 2011) 

If you have difficulty locating a qualifying model, call the Co-op office at 406-961-3001.

Here's how to qualify for the rebate:

  • Purchase a qualifying model. Note: Look for the ENERGY STAR rating. Call the Co-op if there are any questions.
  • Install the machine in our service territory. 
  • Fill out the rebate form. (PDF)
  • Attach a copy of the purchase invoice listing the manufacturer (brand name) and model number of the machine.

A credit will be applied to the account number you designate within 2 to 3 weeks.

Electric Water Heater Rebate

Ravalli Electric Co-op will pay you a $50 rebate if you purchase and install a high efficiency model. If you have difficulty locating a qualifying model, call the Co-op office at 406-961-3001.

Here's how to qualify for the rebate:

  • Purchase a qualifying model. Note: Look for a .93 (or higher) energy factor for 60 gallons or less, and a .91 energy factor for 61 gallons or over. Call the Co-op if there are any questions. 
  • Install the tank in our service territory. 
  • Fill out the rebate form and mail to: Ravalli County Electric Cooperative, 1051 Eastside Hwy Corvallis, Montana 59828-0190. 
  • Attach a copy of the purchase invoice listing the manufacturer (brand name) and model number of the tank.

A credit will be applied to the account you designate within 2 to 3 weeks. Thank you for your participation in this important program. 

"Montana Home" Construction Package

Owner/Builders of new electrically heated homes built to the Montana Home specifications will receive an incentive of $1,500 upon completion of construction and passing the performance testing requirements.

.  Interested parties must:

  • Have an intial consultation with REC staff tor review and approve plans.
  • Builder information (Name and contact information).
  • House information: installation address, foundations type, square footage of home.
  • HVAC system details (type of equipment, ventilation system, specific installation measures, and rated CFM.
  • Sign a Montana Home Agreement.
  • Report of inspections performed by the utility, including any substantial findings and documentation of any corrective actions taken.
  • A blower door test is required for all Montana homes to meet the required ACH of 4@50 pa.
